Workout, Eat and Drink in Park City. Sounds Like Après-Ski Training to Me
"Sometimes it Snows in April"
Already up in the Catskill region for Easter, we had planned to ski on that Monday anyway. One last hurrah on the hill, still holding on to the waning days of winter as the warm weather lay on the horizon. I anticipated spring conditions at best. You know, 56 and sunny, corn snow early and by mid-day sticky and slushy. Never did I expect to look out the window on Monday in the early morning din of the sun and see the ground covered in white and snow coming down like it was mid-winter. What a fortuitous stroke of luck, to...
Shamrocks and Shenanigans on St. Paddy's Day at Mount Snow
You know when your drive up to Vermont manages to include stops at three separate breweries, you are in for a good weekend. That was exactly the case for us on our annual "adults only" trip that, this year, fell on St. Patrick's Day weekend. Sure the Taconic is slightly out of the way but when that route include beers as tasty as Peekskill Brewery's Eastern Standard IPA and Chatham Brewing's Farmer's Daughter, combined with the delicious Poutine topped with a fried egg that we had at Peekskill Brewery, that extra distance instantly became irrelevant. The fact that the ride...
How Good Times With Friends and Family Made This Mount Snow Weekend a Fun One
A week before I was heading up to Vermont and it was dumping snow. Winter storm upon winter storm had deposited over two feet of fresh pow all over the state and I was stoked to take advantage of this. One problem, I was still a week out and, as luck would have it, warmer temps and rain were on the way. My Martin Luther King weekend had already been partially wiped out by similar weather and it looked like my presidents' weekend would be too. Good thing was I was headed to Mount Snow both times and their new state-of-the-art...
Earning my Animal Status at Okemo Mountain
Starving after a long ride up and certainly thirsting for some cold bevvies to kick start the weekend, we rolled into The Killarney, a local Irish pub that has a pretty hopping apres ski scene during the winter months at Okemo. In town for the annual Okemo media weekend we were excited to see some of our friends and get out and make our first tracks of the season with them the next day. So I texted my good buddy Greg Burke, who along with his wife Heather run Family Ski Trips, an excellent source for ski trip destination reviews....
